Dear Parents, The children have been growing and acquiring new skills such as team building, taking turns, respecting one another and sharing during their rehearsals for the Parents Day. A reminder about the upcoming Parents Day, on Monday, 3rd of April. The presentation will be in the MPR beginning from 11 am onwards for KG 2. This will be followed by some refreshments and surprises from your children. You may take your child home at the end of the event, or leave them until regular pick up at 12:30. Bus children whose parents cannot come will ride the bus home as usual. The children have been working very hard preparing for this special occasion and are very excited to be hosting their parents. We look forward to seeing our wonderful Mama's and Baba's on Monday, April 3 at 11.00 AM. The following table summarizes the topics covered from 19th to 30th March. Dear Parents, It was an exciting week for our students reveiwing PHOTOSYNTHESIS! It is amazing how they understand what a plant needs to grow! As an extention to that, we are learning the topic ‘Life Cycle of a Pumpkin’. We reveiwed the parts of the pumpkin too. The students watched in rapt attention when we dissected a whole pumpkin in class to show the various parts. They also learned the vocabulary to go with that: ‘seeds, pulp, flesh, skin, stem, leaf. Please remember to check the photos on the Weebly website. Reading is one of the most important skills your child will learn in school. Every week, your child takes home a library book for reading practice, information, and enjoyment. I want to remind you that students are responsible to handle library books with care. Please keep books away from pets, food, and all liquids. If a book is damaged or lost, a small payment will be requested towards a replacement. We hope our learners will read and enjoy many books and grow in reading skills while attending our school. The following table summarizes the topics covered from 2nd to 16th March. Please review them with your child every day. Dear Parents, The KG Sports Day on the 28th of February was a huge success. The children participated in many different activities that were fun and exciting and acquired many new skills. At the Medal Ceremony, each class swapped their prepared medals with another class of the same Year group. The children enjoyed themselves thoroughly. It was an amazing display of team building and sportsmanship!! Another main highlight of this week was ‘Soup Preparation’. The students were involved in different stages of preparation. They dug out vegetables from our very own ECE garden, washed them, cut them into small pieces and finally served the soup to fellow class mates. It was pure delight to watch them slurping away the delicious soup and coming back for more!! We also read the book “Growing Vegetable Soup”. Please remember to check the photos on the Weebly website. Over the last few weeks, our learners have been reading a series of BOB books which help them sound out the sounds, blend the sounds and read in a phonetic way. For example, the book ‘Sam’, correlates to the –am word family. The students came up with more –am family words like ‘dam, jam, ram and so on. We are observing how proud they are of their reading skills! We hope you are reviewing and practicing the Second Step concepts taught in school. This week it is Early Learning Unit 2, which is ‘Identifying Anger’. Check out the Second Step tab on our ECE Weebly for home links.
